About

The Queensgate Observer: An Immersive Gothic Fantasy Experience in 13 Issues

Inspired by 19th-century serialised stories, illustrated newspapers, and epistolary storytelling, The Queensgate Observer is an illustrated newspaper set in the Victorian-era city of Queensgate, an alternate reality where the Veil between the supernatural and spiritual realms has been lifted. Every article, advertisement, and piece of art is created as if the reader picked up the Observer from a Queensgate newsstand in 1853. Every aspect of the paper is written, designed, and illustrated by the artist behind Doc Galahan.

Launching on Kickstarter on January 8th, 2025, Doc will be releasing all 13 issues of Season 1 of the Observer in a limited edition set of 100 signed editions as well as a limited edition handmade print chosen by the community.

The Art Prints

Doc's growing number of print plates represent the core of the narrative art experience. Each plate features characters and scenes from Doc’s world, typically consisting of a featured subject or subjects wrapped in or enhanced by a floral element, created with a story in mind. Some of these stories appear within the Observer. Some are stand alone flash fiction and short stories. Following the final release of Season 1 of the Observer, Doc will be compiling the first 35 print plates and their featured story into a singular volume.

About the Creator

Doc Galahan is a Cincinnati-based pseudonymous artist and writer creating a multidisciplinary work that includes street art installations, gallery exhibitions, creative fiction, and digital media.

Galahan first appeared on the Cincinnati art scene with a show presented by ArtsConnect in Springfield Township. The exhibition featured four interactive holographic boxes (Spectragraphs), 30 Anaglyph 3D prints, and a tent called 'The Veil Experience,' designed to showcase Galahan's Light Changing Prints, called Spectraglyphs. In December 2021, the next iteration of the Veil Experience appeared at the ninth-annual ArtLocal Art Show held at Centennial Barn. In 2022, Galahan brought the Veil Experience to the Pike Street Art Wall in Covington, KY, installing three 24"x36" panels that change with the color of light.

In February 2024, Doc Galahan collaborated with Second Sight Spirits to launch Scarlet Veil, a red absinthe. This unique creation features Doc's light-changing artwork inside the bottle.
